Back-end Systems
Typical website features that require a back-end system are: content management, data capture forms, on-line calculators, automatic email notification, user surveys, bulletin boards and user tracking. Typical extranet solutions are based on a password protected website (or part of a website) that is used to allow a closed group of people to exchange information. This can range from a simple members-only area, where information is entered by an organisation for members to access, to bulletin boards where all the members can contribute, to multiuser content management where all the members can add and modify content (if they have the authority). If you feel that your current website is unmanageable, out of date, or just too difficult to use, you may benefit from a back-end system. If you find that you are drowning in a sea of e-mails from your colleagues, clients or suppliers an extranet could be the solution.
